11 Madhya Pradesh Cops Booked in ₹1.45 Crore Hawala Loot Case

Alleged Crime: The police team allegedly seized approximately ₹2.9 crore in cash from a Nagpur-based businessman, Sohan Parmar, but deliberately recorded only ₹1.45 crore in their official report. They allegedly kept the remaining amount and released the businessman and his employees without taking legal action.

Madhya Pradesh: A criminal case has been registered against 11 police personnel in Madhya Pradesh, including a Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP), in connection with the alleged looting and embezzlement of hawala money amounting to ₹1.45 crore.


Here are the key details of the incident:

Location: Seoni district, Madhya Pradesh.

Incident: It is alleged that a police team intercepted a car carrying a large sum of "hawala money" (unaccounted cash) being transported from Katni (MP) to Jalna (Maharashtra) in the first week of October.

Alleged Crime: The police team allegedly seized approximately ₹2.9 crore in cash from a Nagpur-based businessman, Sohan Parmar, but deliberately recorded only ₹1.45 crore in their official report. Accused: An FIR was registered against 11 police personnel, including:

SDOP Pooja Pandey (Sub-Divisional Officer of Police, Seoni)

Sub-Inspector Arpit Bhairam (Bandol police station in-charge)

And nine other personnel (constables and head constables).

Arrests and Status: Following an internal probe and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's strict directives, five to six personnel (sources vary slightly on the exact number as of the latest reports), including SDOP Pooja Pandey and SI Arpit Bhairam, have been arrested. The remaining accused are currently absconding.

Charges: The police personnel have been booked under serious sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to:

Dacoity (Robbery)

Abduction (Kidnapping)

Criminal Conspiracy

The businessman, Sohan Parmar, and his two employees have also been arrested in connection with the hawala money case. The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister has stated that the government will not tolerate such misconduct and will take strict disciplinary and legal action against those found guilty.
