Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty Refuse to Participate in Karnataka Caste Survey; Cite Non-Backward Class Status!

When the caste survey officials visited their residence in Jayanagar, they reportedly said, ‘We do not belong to any backward category. Participating in this survey will not be of any help to the government. Therefore, we refuse to take part in it.

Infosys founder N.R. Narayana Murty and Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murty have reportedly declined to participate in the ongoing Social, Educational, and Economic Survey (often referred to as the caste survey) being conducted across Karnataka. When the survey enumerators visited their residence in Jayanagar, the Murty family allegedly informed the officials of their decision.

According to reports, the Murty family cited their reason for non-participation: "We do not belong to any backward class. Participating in this survey will not be of any assistance to the government. Therefore, we refuse to take part." Refusal via Self-Declaration -

It is understood that Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murty confirmed that their family does not belong to any backward community.

She formally submitted a self-declaration form, officially refusing to participate in the survey. She reiterated that since they do not belong to a backward class, providing information would not be helpful to the survey process.

The survey, which is being conducted through the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes (KSCBC), aims to collect comprehensive data on the residents of Karnataka, including their socio-economic status and living standards.

The couple is reported to have stated that due to "certain personal reasons," they were unable to provide the required information for the survey and, thus, chose to abstain from the process for the entire family.
