Bengaluru Businessman Arrested as Key Accused in Sabarimala Gold Theft Case!

The main accused in the Shabarimala temple gold theft case, Bengaluru-based businessman Unnikrishnan Potti, has been arrested by SIT officials in Thiruvananthapuram, and an investigation is underway.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested a Bengaluru-based businessman, Unnikrishnan Potti, in Thiruvananthapuram as the main accused in the gold theft case at the Sabarimala Temple. SIT officials have taken Potti into custody for intensive questioning, after which he was taken to a government hospital for a medical examination.

He is scheduled to be produced before the court in Pathanamthitta this afternoon. Following the court appearance, the SIT is expected to seek his custody to continue the probe. The SIT is currently investigating two related cases under the direction of the Kerala High Court, which has given the team a six-week deadline to complete the investigation. The businessman's arrest on Thursday came after gold went missing from the temple's Dwarapalaka (gatekeeper) idols and the gold plating on the Sanctum Sanctorum door. Potti had previously been questioned by officials from the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) for two days regarding the incident.
