POCSO Case Against B.S. Yediyurappa: Karnataka High Court to Hear Plea Today

Allegations: On February 2, 2024, at Yediyurappa’s residence in Dollar’s Colony, Bengaluru, a girl and her mother visited to seek assistance with an employment-related issue. The mother (now deceased) alleged that Yediyurappa sexually assaulted the girl. Consequently, an FIR was filed at Sadashivanagar Police Station under Section 8 of the POCSO Act and Section 354(A) of the IPC, among others.

On Tuesday, September 17, 2025, the Karnataka High Court took up a petition filed by former Chief Minister and BJP leader B.S. Yediyurappa, seeking to quash a case registered against him under the POCSO Act for alleged sexual gestures towards a 17-year-old girl. Yediyurappa’s Claim: He has alleged that the case is politically motivated and that the girl and her mother approached him for help in another sexual assault case. He claims they were used by others for monetary gain. The BJP has labeled these allegations as a political conspiracy, and Yediyurappa (aged 81) has expressed his intent to prove his innocence.
