Dharwad: The Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council, Basavaraj Horatti, today announced that the Belagavi Winter Session of the state legislature has been scheduled to begin on December 8.
Speaking to the media in Dharwad, Horatti confirmed the date, stating that he had held discussions with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the schedule. He added that a meeting with the District Commissioner (DC) of Belagavi would be held next week to finalize preparations for the session.
Disappointment Over North Karnataka Issues-
During his address, Chairman Horatti expressed strong disappointment regarding the approach of legislators, particularly those from North Karnataka, towards regional development issues.
"North Karnataka MLAs are not serious about development issues," Horatti lamented. He stated that he was deeply dissatisfied with the constant focus on political leaders' personal attacks rather than substantive regional matters. "No MLA talks about North Karnataka. Even when people from South Karnataka speak on the issues, those from here do not," he said, expressing a lack of faith in local leaders to address the problems within the democratic setup. "It feels wrong to expect them to listen as long as they are in the democracy. It is time to reform, but this is a situation where we can't do anything. MLAs who ask questions often run away within a minute," he added, conveying his frustration.
Comments on 'November Revolution' -
When questioned about the 'November Revolution', Horatti chose to remain guarded. "As the Chairman, this is my duty, and this matter doesn't seem entirely right. I won't talk about it," he stated. He urged the media to focus on serious issues rather than unnecessary debates, emphasizing that there are plenty of important topics to cover. He concluded by asserting that legislators should serve as role models for others. Also Read: Fatal Nepal Road Crash: Jeep Plunges 700 Feet into Gorge; 8 Dead, 10 Injured!
