Sydney: In a match billed as the probable farewell to Australian soil for star batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Team India delivered a commanding nine-wicket victory over Australia in the third and final One-Day International (ODI) at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Saturday. Despite India's emphatic win, the hosts, Australia, secured the three-match series 2-1, having won the first two games. The Ro-Ko Show Steals the Night

The match was dominated by a masterclass from the veteran duo, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who silenced critics regarding their places in the ODI squad following a series of low scores.

Rohit Sharma was the aggressor, smashing an unbeaten 121 runs off 125 balls to register his 33rd ODI century, earning him the Player of the Series award.

Virat Kohli bounced back from two consecutive ducks in the previous matches, scoring a fluent 74 runs off 81 balls*. Kohli also surpassed Kumar Sangakkara to become the second-highest run-scorer in ODI history during his knock.

The pair shared a match-winning, unbroken second-wicket partnership of 168 runs, guiding India to the target of 237 with 11.3 overs to spare. Also Read; Violation of Lease Conditions: Karnataka High Court Directs Tahsildar to Take Action

Australia's Batting Collapses

Earlier, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and elected to bat first, but the home side struggled against a disciplined Indian attack.

Australia was bowled out for a modest total of 236 runs in 46.4 overs.

Opener Matt Renshaw top-scored for Australia with 56 runs, while Mitchell Marsh added 41.

Pacer Harshit Rana was the standout performer for India, claiming his best ODI figures of 4 wickets for 39 runs. He was well-supported by spinners Washington Sundar (2/44) and Axar Patel (1/18).

The match provided a fitting tribute to the two Indian legends, whose dominant partnership was the highlight of an otherwise disappointing series for the visiting side.
