Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar provided details on the development of Cubbon Park and the proposed High Court relocation. He interacted with citizens and received their grievances during a walkathon event held at Cubbon Park today.
Responding to the citizens' demand for the park's upgrade, he announced that ₹5 crore will be allocated for development through the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), and the Horticulture Department will be directed to release any further necessary funds. He stressed that the protection of the parks is paramount, and no construction work of any kind would be permitted on the park premises.
"I have been coming here since my days as a student leader. Following the model of Cubbon Park and Lalbagh, a decision has been made to talk to the Forest Department and develop parks in Forest Department lands across the city to establish 'Tree Parks.' No trees will be cut.
We are moving to protect the greenery, and the development of Lalbagh Park with a declared allocation of ₹10 crore has also been announced," he said. Fujifilm Instax Camera Mini 99 Premium Edition Pack with 20 Shots
During the event, Shivakumar also mentioned that sites have been inspected for the relocation of the High Court, and a space may be secured nearby in consultation with the judiciary. He noted that due to the historical significance of the old building, lawyers and the Chief Justice had requested the government to provide 15 to 20 acres of land for the relocation. He assured that this matter would also be discussed before the government. Also Read: 2020 Delhi Riots Case: Supreme Court to Hear Bail Pleas of Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, and Others on Monday
