Tumakuru: Amidst growing controversy and dissatisfaction surrounding the state government's socio-economic and caste survey, former BJP MLA Kumar Bangarappa has publicly voiced his support for the exercise, explicitly backed the state government's survey, stating that "it is the foremost duty of every citizen to participate in the survey."
Bangarappa emphasised that such surveys are conducted periodically and stressed the need for cooperation from all communities. "Surveys happen from time to time by the state government. All communities must fully cooperate. The survey should not be rejected," he asserted. He clarified that the ongoing exercise is a socio-economic and educational survey, not limited to any single caste or class.
He further drew a parallel, stating that the Central Government might also conduct similar caste or census surveys, and the same participation model would apply. "It is the primary duty to participate in this. After the state's exercise, the Central Government's survey will follow," he noted. Manku Thimmana kagga-by D.V.G Hardcover
Bangarappa distanced the party from the controversy, saying, "The BJP has no opposition to the survey itself; the objection is only to asking personal details." He concluded by cautioning against politicising the issue, asking, "When the Central Government’s survey begins, can we say the Congress will oppose it? There should be no politics in this."
