Bengaluru: An FIR has been registered against an unknown person for attempting to defraud an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) officer using the names of Lokayukta justices.

The complaint regarding the fraudulent call, which involved the misuse of a fake number under a Lokayukta official's name, was filed at the Vidhana Soudha Police Station by Srinivas Doddamani, Police Inspector at the Karnataka Lokayukta office. The AEE in question, Venkatesh of the Lake Division in RR Nagar, could not receive a call that came to his phone on October 3. Upon checking the missed call number on an app, it was found to display the names of the Lokayukta justices.

The officer became suspicious and visited the Lokayukta office, where it was confirmed that the number was fake. The matter was immediately reported to Lokayukta officials. The case was registered on October 10 , and the police have since initiated an investigation to take necessary legal action and search for the accused.
