Investigation Underway
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Department (AAID).
Possible Factors: Preliminary reports suggest that poor visibility and heavy rain in the coastal region at the time of the crash (around 8:35 AM local time, though initial reports varied) may have played a role. The pilot also reportedly lost radio contact with the control tower shortly after departure.
Government Response: Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir confirmed that investigation teams have been deployed to the remote site to conduct a comprehensive inquiry and determine the exact circumstances of the tragic event.
Global Condolences
The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the global tourism sector. The Hungarian government confirmed the loss of its citizens, with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressing condolences to the affected families. The airline stated that its primary focus is now on providing support and assistance to the victims’ relatives.
Status: The investigation is currently ongoing, and authorities have pledged a transparent and thorough inquiry to uphold aviation safety standards in Kenya.
