Bengaluru: Regional Transport Office (RTO) officials in the city have intensified their special operation against private buses found violating the Motor Vehicles Act and tax regulations. The drive, which has been underway for several days, aims to curb tax evasion and ensure compliance with crucial safety norms.
Key Details of the Operation:
A recent verification drive was conducted late Wednesday night (October 29) near Mantri Mall in Malleshwaram. The primary reasons for the sustained action are rampant non-payment of state taxes and the violation of safety rules by many private operators. Officials have been rigorously checking the documents and permits of several buses, particularly those operating on interstate routes. The results of the ongoing operation indicate that many private buses, especially interstate Tourist Buses registered outside Karnataka, have been plying without paying the requisite state taxes.
Officials have signalled their intent to seize several private buses for these violations and non-compliance with interstate permit rules.
