In a unique initiative to curb illegal garbage dumping, the Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) has imposed fines totaling Rs 2.80 lakh by dumping waste in front of 218 houses as part of the "Garbage Dumping Festival," announced BSWML Managing Director Karigowda. Auto tippers visit every household across the five city corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Municipal Corporation (BBMP) every morning to collect waste.

However, some residents continue to discard garbage along roadsides, footpaths, and vacant lands.Such indiscriminate dumping is tarnishing the city's cleanliness. To prevent these incidents, BSWML launched an innovative awareness campaign today, identifying offenders who dump garbage on roadsides and symbolically dumping waste right in front of their homes, as revealed by the official. Residents who fail to hand over waste to auto tippers often dump it on roadsides or elsewhere at night. DCM D.K. Shivakumar Blames BJP's Internal Conflict for Dharmasthala Case!

To foster empathy and make them understand how it feels when garbage is dumped in front of someone else's home or on streets, waste was placed directly in front of the offenders' houses. Consequently, garbage was dumped in front of 218 such houses today, leading to the collection of Rs 2,80,000 in fines. The waste was subsequently cleared. Emphasizing the need to maintain Bengaluru's cleanliness and hygiene, Karigowda urged residents to cooperate by segregating wet and dry waste and handing it over to auto tippers when they arrive.

Awareness Campaign Against Roadside DumpingDumping garbage anywhere, including roadsides, must be stopped immediately. Awareness efforts have been intensified to educate the public on segregating wet and dry waste and handing it over to the city corporation's auto tippers at designated times. 65 Waste Kiosks Planned Across the CityTo regulate roadside garbage dumping, plans are underway to establish approximately 65 waste kiosks throughout Bengaluru.
