In a dramatic turn of events in India's commercial capital, Mumbai, police reportedly shot dead a man identified as Rohit Arya after he held 19 people, including 17 children, hostage under the pretext of conducting an audition.
The 50-year-old suspect, Rohit Arya, allegedly held 17 children and two adults hostage in connection with a web series audition. The man was reportedly suffering from a mental illness. Before the police action, he had released an hour-long video, stating: "I have some questions I wish to ask some people. I seek answers. I am not a terrorist; I have not demanded money."
The Hostage Crisis and Operation -
The Powai police station received a call around 1 PM on Thursday, leading officers to rush to R.A. Studio located in the Mahavir Classic building where the man was situated.
Police attempted to negotiate with Rohit, but he refused to release the children. To secure the children's safety, police reportedly entered the building through a bathroom and shot the suspect.

The Quick Response Team (QRT) and other police personnel conducted a cinematic operation, successfully rescuing all the children and handing them over to their parents. The suspect sustained a gunshot wound during the operation and was rushed to the hospital, where he reportedly succumbed to his injuries.
