Bengaluru: A tragic incident occurred in the Mahadevapura area of Bengaluru when the centering structure collapsed during a building renovation, resulting in the death of one worker and injuries to three others.
The deceased worker has been identified as Yusuf Shariff (35) from Haveri.
Hundreds of building renovation projects proceed quietly across the city, but this one in Mahadevapura turned fatal when the centering, a temporary support structure, gave way. The incident took place within the limits of the Mahadevapura Police Station.
Bystanders Injured While Drinking Tea-
Tragically, three bystanders were also injured in the mishap, including a married couple who were drinking tea near the building site. The injured have been identified as Akash and Tanuja. According to reports, the collapse was caused by the negligence of the building owners. The police stated that a case would be registered in this regard. Whitefield DCP K. Parashuram visited the spot for inspection.
The couple, Akash and Tanuja, who were married just a year ago, had come to 'Chubby Chai' for their evening tea when the wooden structure supporting the renovation suddenly collapsed.
Victims’ Condition -
The worker, Yusuf Shariff, fell from a height and died instantly. The married couple sustained serious injuries: Tanuja suffered a fractured spine, and Akash sustained hand injuries. Both are currently receiving treatment at a private hospital. The body of the deceased worker, Yusuf Shariff, has been shifted to Bowring Hospital.
