In 2022, when Basavaraj Bommai was the Chief Minister, the central government provided assistance of ₹50 lakh per family to 34 patients, totaling around ₹18 crore. The state government also continued to release grants without any hurdles. However, the Siddaramaiah government has paid only ₹1.8 crore out of the ₹14 crore due this year, leaving the rest pending. Ravikumar traveled in the CM's car to bring this issue to his attention. Some, unaware of the facts, have spoken recklessly, it is said.
