In a bid to simplify life for senior citizens and eliminate the hassle of visiting government offices, the Department of Pensioners' Welfare, under the Central Government’s Ministry of Pensions, has rolled out the nationwide Digital Jeevan Pramaan Abhiyan 4.0.
The initiative emphasizes the mandatory digital submission of the Annual Life Certificate, aiming to ensure pensioners receive their payments without interruption.
What is the Digital Life Certificate (DLC)?
A Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan Patra) is essential proof of life for pensioners. The Digital Life Certificate (DLC) is its electronic format, which holds legal validity equivalent to the physical document in the pension payment process.
The campaign, organized from November 1st to 30th, is one of the largest outreach initiatives for pensioners, focusing on digital enablement.
Benefits of Digital Jeevan Pramaan -
The DLC is a Biometric-enabled, Aadhaar-based digital certificate that provides significant advantages to senior citizens:
Eliminates Physical Visit: It allows pensioners to submit proof of life digitally to their Pension Disbursing Authorities, completely avoiding the need to physically visit banks or post offices every year.
Seamless Payments: The primary goal is to guarantee continuous disbursement of the pension, as the DLC automatically updates with the payment authorities.
Stops Misuse: Mandatory annual submission ensures the prevention of fraud, misappropriation, and unauthorized payments, maintaining the integrity of the system.
Technology Empowerment: The campaign actively informs senior citizens about the benefits and ease of adopting digital technology for governance.
How to Submit the Digital Life Certificate
Pensioners can easily submit their DLC through the following channels:
In-Person: Visiting a Bank Branch or a Citizen Service Centre (CSC).
Online: Via the official Jeevan Pramaan online portal website.
Mobile App: Using the UMANG App.
