New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for Bhutan today (Tuesday). The visit is considered significant for further strengthening the bilateral relationship between India and Bhutan.

During his visit, PM Modi is scheduled to meet with the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. The Prime Minister confirmed his travel plans in a post on his 'X' account.

Key Engagements in Bhutan

The Prime Minister’s schedule includes several high-profile engagements: PM Modi will inaugurate the Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project during his visit. Discussions will also focus on exchanging views on bilateral relations and exploring new opportunities for cooperation. He will participate in the celebrations for the 70th birthday of the former King of Bhutan, Jigme Singye Wangchuck. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that the Prime Minister will offer prayers at the sacred relics at Tashichho Dzong in Thimphu and attend the Global Peace Prayer Festival organized by the Royal Government of Bhutan.
