Man Arrested for Cheating Farmers with Fake Tractor Rental Promise!

The Chikkajala police have arrested a person named Devaraj for cheating farmers under the pretext of arranging tractors.

Bengaluru: A man named Devaraj has been arrested by the Chikkajala Police for allegedly cheating farmers in the name of tractor rentals.

According to reports, Devaraj approached farmers claiming he would rent their tractors and pay ₹30,000 per month for each tractor. He even prepared formal rental agreements to gain their trust. Believing him, several farmers handed over their tractors, expecting a steady monthly income.

However, the fraudster Devaraj reportedly paid rent for only one or two months. Later, he began selling the tractors at half price or cheap rates to farmers in Bagepalli and near the Karnataka border. When the original owners demanded either their rent or tractors back, Devaraj would simply disappear.

Fed up, the cheated farmers finally lodged a complaint at the Chikkajala Police Station. After registering the case, police arrested 420 (cheating) Devaraj.

During interrogation, Devaraj allegedly told the police that “committing fraud gave him a kind of thrill.” Now, that same “thrill” has landed him behind bars!

Police have so far recovered 10 tractors from him and are working to return them to the rightful owners. The Chikkajala Police were commended for swiftly tracking down and arresting the accused. Also Read: Karnataka Caste Survey: Deadline Extended for Online Self-Declaration of Socio-Economic Data
