In a significant move to overhaul the state’s property and document registration system, the Karnataka Revenue Department has made Digital E-Stamping (DES) mandatory across the state. This initiative marks the end of the traditional stamp paper and older e-stamp systems, aiming to close security loopholes, eliminate counterfeit certificates, and ensure a seamless experience for citizens.
Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda expressed confidence that the shift to a fully digital system will bring much-needed transparency and plug revenue leaks caused by fraudulent practices in the past.
Why the Shift?
The introduction of Digital E-Stamping is designed to address specific flaws in the previous physical and semi-digital systems:
Eliminating Fraud: It puts a hard brake on the circulation of fake stamp papers and counterfeit certificates that previously caused significant losses to the state exchequer.
Enhanced Security: The new system uses advanced encryption and verification protocols to ensure document integrity.
Convenience: Citizens can now purchase stamps easily without visiting vendors or sub-registrar offices. GUESS Analog Gold Dial Women's Watch-GW0744L2
How to Obtain a Digital E-Stamp: A Step-by-Step Guide
The process has been integrated into the state's Kaveri Online Services portal, allowing users to complete registrations from anywhere. Here is the 7-step procedure:
Register/Login: Visit the Kaveri Portal and log in to your account.
Initiate Application: Click on "Start New Application" and select "E-Stamp" from the list of services.
Select Document Type: Choose the specific nature of the document/deed you wish to register.
Fill Details & Verify Identity: Enter the required details. The applicant's identity is verified via Aadhaar authentication.
Note: For property-related documents, government data is automatically fetched and verified against the system.
Make Payment: Pay the requisite stamp duty securely through the Khajane II payment gateway.
E-Signature: Once payment is confirmed, the Digital E-Stamp is generated. A link for e-signing the document is sent to the applicant’s mobile number.
Download: After the e-signature process is complete, the final Digital E-Stamp certificate is available for download.
Key Benefits of the New System
No Middlemen: Apply and generate stamps from the comfort of your home or office, bypassing intermediaries.
Secure Payments: The integration with the Khajane gateway ensures 100% secure online transactions.
Tamper-Proof: Thanks to the Digital Signature Certificate (DSC), documents cannot be altered once signed without the knowledge of the signatories.
Fraud Prevention: Automated classification of documents prevents undervaluation and duty evasion.
Legal Validity: The digital documents are fully legally binding, eliminating the strict necessity for physical hard copies. Also Read: Home Minister Dr G. Parameshwar's statement to pacify dissatisfaction after the breakfast meeting..!
