Dharmasthala Conspiracy Case: Karnataka HC Directs State to Respond on Plea for Comprehensive Probe!

During the High Court hearing on the alleged conspiracy against the Dharmasthala institution and its Dharmadhikari, Veerendra Heggade, the court granted the state government three days’ time to present its stand. Along with this, it has directed the Dakshina Kannada District Superintendent of Police to provide a detailed and comprehensive report.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has directed the State Government to clarify its stance within three days regarding a petition seeking a comprehensive investigation into an alleged "systematic conspiracy" targeting Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala and its Dharmadhikari, Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade.

A single-judge bench led by Justice Suraj Govindaraj issued the direction on Tuesday while hearing a petition alleging that specific individuals and activists were orchestrating a smear campaign against the religious institution.

SP Directed to File Report

The Court has specifically instructed the Dakshina Kannada District Superintendent of Police (SP) to submit a comprehensive report. The report must detail the actions taken regarding complaints filed against the accused individuals concerning their financial sources and activities.

The Allegations

The petitioners have sought a directive to investigate the movements and funding sources of the following individuals, alleging they are part of a calculated conspiracy: Mahesh Shetty Timarodi (Activist), Girish Mattannavar, T. Jayanth and Sameer M.D. (YouTuber). The plea argues that these individuals are involved in a malicious campaign against the Kshetra and the Dharmadhikari. Background of the Petition

The writ petition was filed by Bhaskar Badekkottu of Ujire, Tejas S. Gowda of Bengaluru, and Dharmasthala residents Surendra Prabhu and Dhanakeerthi Ariga. It is based on complaints and representations submitted to the police on August 20, and September 5, 8, and 9.

During the hearing, the government advocate requested time to seek instructions and present the state's position. Acceding to the request, the Bench granted a three-day deadline for the government to respond. The matter has been adjourned to December 16 for further hearing.
