Protection of Kannadigas in Kerala: BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra's Fierce Verbal Attack ..!

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has strongly opposed the Kerala government's move to enforce Malayalam as the first language in Kannada-medium schools.

The issues surrounding Kerala's proposed Malayalam Language Bill 2025 which mandates Malayalam as the compulsory first language in schools, including Kannada-medium ones in border areas like Kasaragod and the Karnataka Governor's decision to withhold assent to the state's controversial 'Hate Speech Bill' have ignited intense debate in Karnataka politics.

In a letter to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Siddaramaiah urged immediate withdrawal of the bill, warning that it would threaten the existence of Kannada schools in border regions and violate the constitutional rights of linguistic minorities.

He emphasized protecting the language, identity, and educational access of Kannada-speaking communities in Kasaragod, which he described as emotionally tied to Karnataka. Also Read: Karnataka Bypolls: High-Stakes Battle Begins in Davanagere South and Bagalkot; Candidate Lists Awaited!?

Responding sharply, BJP Karnataka State President B.Y. Vijayendra criticized Siddaramaiah, stating that merely writing a letter is insufficient.

He accused the Congress government of staging a "drama" and demanded concrete action specifically, pressuring AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal (a key Congress leader from Karnataka) to intervene directly with the Kerala government. Vijayendra insisted on firm steps to safeguard Kannadigas' interests. Also Read: Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Elections: Voting Begins at 7:30 AM; Festive Spirit Across 227 Wards..!

B.Y. Vijayendra's Key Arguments:

Widespread Opposition: Not just the BJP, but also JD(S) and various civil society organizations have opposed the bill.

Governor's Decision Welcomed: The Karnataka Governor's withholding of assent to the state's own 'Hate Speech Bill' (passed without adequate discussion) is praiseworthy, as the BJP, JD(S), and others had petitioned against it, viewing it as a threat to free speech.Zoho Founder Sridhar Vembu Divorce: Court Orders Transfer of ₹15,000 Crore to Wife!
