Davos 2026: Pralhad Joshi Showcases India as a Global Beacon for Clean Energy Transition..!

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, has positioned India as a premier destination for sustainable investment at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026.

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, has positioned India as a premier destination for sustainable investment at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026. Speaking from the Swiss Alps, the Minister highlighted India's rapid shift toward green energy, asserting that the nation’s journey from "pledges to real impact" is now a blueprint for the Global South.

The "India Story": Scaling Beyond Borders

At the heart of the Davos summit, Minister Joshi launched the "Green Investment Handbook: The India Story." The handbook outlines India’s roadmap to achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

Current Milestones: India has already crossed the 267 GW mark in renewable capacity, with a record-breaking addition of 49 GW in 2025 alone.

Global Hub Ambitions: The Minister emphasized that India is no longer just a consumer but is evolving into a global exporter of solar modules and green hydrogen technology.

High-Stakes Diplomacy and Global Alliances

The Davos summit served as a platform for critical bilateral engagements. Minister Joshi held a series of strategic meetings to strengthen the global green energy grid:

Oman & Kuwait: Discussions focused on joint manufacturing and the leveraging of the India-Oman CEPA to build port-led infrastructure for green hydrogen exports.

Belgium: A reaffirmation of the India-Belgium partnership in offshore wind and solar R&D.

La Caisse (Canada): The Minister encouraged the institution to scale its climate investments in India, aligning with their $300 billion global commitment to climate action. IREDA: Financing the Future

Supporting the Minister’s vision, Pradip Kumar Das, CMD of IREDA, noted that India has become a "global example" in clean energy financing. IREDA recently marked a milestone by sanctioning its first international loan a $22.5 million green loan for a solar project in Zambia signaling India’s transition into a global catalyst for renewable energy development.

The 2026 Vision: Resilience and Scale

During a roundtable titled "Delivering Sustainability at Scale," Joshi underscored that for India, sustainability is a "strategic transformation of the economy," not just a technological shift. By opening the nuclear sector to private players for small reactors and expanding the PM Surya Ghar rooftop solar scheme, India is ensuring that green energy reaches every household.

As the summit concludes, the message from Davos is clear: India’s blend of policy clarity, massive scale, and technological innovation has made it the central engine of the global clean energy revolution.
