Pakistan’s nightmare is one month away from becoming the reality.

Pakistan’s nightmare is one month away from becoming the reality.

Pakistan is facing a severe water crisis, as 80% of Pak agriculture depends on the Indus river system. India has started building Shahpur Kandi and Ratle dams and put the 1960 Water Treaty Agreement on abeyance on April 25. India’s intention of utilizing even Chenab and Ravi rivers is becoming Pakistan’s nightmare.

After Pahalgam attack India terminated the 6 decades WTA.

The shahput Kandi dam built on the Ravi River will be operational from March of this year and water which was flowing to Pak earlier will stop. The other project Hydro Electric Plant is moving at very fast pace, despite Pak’s objections.

Pakistan has a very poor water storage capacity and they have built any infrastructure in the last 70 years. Pak heavily depends on these rivers for agriculture and when water flow is reduced, Pak has crave for every drop of water in summer.

Pak claims India is using the Water like a weapon and India responds in legal terms and claim we are exercising our rights, which we did not do previously.

Will Afghan-Pak ever have a solution for Durand line?

Pak has already appealed to the international community to intervene and solve the issue, they have also gone to the court in Netherlands. The court ordered to summon the Treaty documents, India said the Netherland court itself is illegitimate and rejected their views.

Pakistan has no other option to abort terror industry, if they need water.  There’s nothing they can do legally. They do not have credibility to go to international community.

From next month end the actual water crisis starts in Pak.
