Election Commission removes all the top bureaucrats of TMC for fair and just election

The Election Commission has removed the top officials in West Bengal Administration, including the Chief Secretary and director General of Police. TMC was startled by the unprecedented move from EC and walked out from Rajya Sabha Assembly to protest.

The EC’s decision of inducting new staff for the top posts came just after announcing the election dates for the 5 states.

EC is not reshuffling the top officials only in West Bengal, it also transferred the 5 senior Superintendents in Assam and reviewed the list of IAS officers, who can be used as District Electoral Officers. It has transferred 4 Superintendents of Police in TN.

In its initial order on Sunday, it removed the Chief Secretary, Nandini Chakravarty and Home Secretary Jagdish Prasad Meena in West Bengal. Subsequently it the state’s DGP Peeyush Pandey, and Supratim Sarkar on Monday.

The list of new appointments

Dushyant Nariyala as additional Chief Secretary of the state, North Bengal development department.

Sanghamitra Ghosh, new home Secretary for Women and Child development department.

Siddh Nath Gupta, DGP

AjayKumar Nand, Commissioner of Kolkata Police.

EC further clarified the new officers will report before 3 on Monday and the officers who are transferred out will not be used in election process till the election is over.
