In a significant development ahead of the Assam Legislative Assembly Elections, 67 candidates have withdrawn their nominations on the last day of withdrawal, March 26.

This has reduced the total number of contestants from the initial 789 valid nominations to 722 candidates now left in the electoral battle across the state's 126 assembly constituencies.
