With just days left for the Puducherry Assembly Elections, a major crack has emerged in the Congress party.

A.V. Subramanian, former President of the Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), has resigned from all positions in the party.

Subramanian submitted his resignation letter to current PCC President V. Vaithilingam, citing personal reasons and unavoidable circumstances.

The resignation, coming at a time when the elections are approaching, has come as a big setback to the Congress.

Recently, Congress and DMK finalized a seat-sharing agreement. Out of the 30 assembly constituencies in Puducherry, Congress will contest in 16 seats, while DMK has been allotted 14 seats.

The Puducherry Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on April 9, 2026, with vote counting scheduled for May 4, 2026.
