In a significant breakthrough Manipur Police and Assam Rifles, in a joint operation conducted on April 1st, did arrest three active militants and recovered a massive amount of ammunition, which was intended for ethnic violence in Manipur. The investigation revealed, the three individuals were accumulating weapons and were supplying to locals in the valley.
The operation was carried out in Thoubal district, based on the intelligence received. The Police activated the mobile vehicle check post and recovered the huge cache of ammunitions.
When the Police found the suspicious movement of the vehicle, they stopped it and to their surprise, they recovered 2,340 of live ammunition (inclusive of various calibres, 7.62 mm, and 5.56 mm), two hand grenades, several sets of combat uniform and tactical gear, implicating documents and mobile handsets.
The three individuals are linked to the banned outfit and they were transporting the ammunitions from a cross-border source to an undisclosed hideout in Imphal, East-Kangpokpi.
