Insider Involvement Suspected in ₹1 Crore Bengaluru Wedding Heist

A 52-year-old NRI doctor, based at US Dr. Siruvella Sridevi, reported the theft of 725 grams of gold jewellery worth approximately ₹1 crore during a wedding reception in East Bengaluru. Dr. Sridevi, who is practicing in the US, arrived in Bengaluru on April 18 to attend her nephew's marriage. She was staying with her brother in Ganganagar. At 6:30 PM on the day of the reception, her brother handed her a box containing the jewellery at the venue.

She wore some of the ornaments and kept the remaining items back in the box. She kept the box inside a bag in her allotted room, locked the door, and headed to the reception at 7:00 PM as planned. When she returned to the room at 11:30 PM, she found the room locked, but the jewellery box was missing.

In her FIR, the doctor has mentioned that a woman working as a wedding hall worker had entered the room while she was getting ready.  Since the room was locked and the victim had the key in her possession, police are not ruling out the involvement of an insider or the use of a duplicate key.
