Havana: In a sporadic diplomatic move, CIA Director John Ratcliffe arrived in Havana on Thursday, May 14, 2026, for a crucial meeting with top Cuban officials. The unannounced visit took place against the backdrop of an unprecedented energy crisis, rolling blackouts, and erupting street protests across the island.
Ratcliffe met with senior Cuban representatives, including interior minister Lazaro Alvarez Casas, spy chief Raul Rodriguez Castro, and various officials from the Ministry of the Interior.
