On May 21, 2026, Hamza Burhan, also known as Arjumand Gulzar Dar or Doctor was shot and critically wounded by unidentified gunmen in Muzaffarabad, POK.
Attackers tracked Hamza to a densely populated neighbourhood in Cheela Bandi on the outskirts of Muzaffarabad. They opened fire at close range, hitting him multiple times, even in the head. Despite being heavily guarded under ISI protocols, Hamza was airlifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Rawalpindi, where he succumbed to his injuries. The attackers flood before local law enforcement could intervene.
Hamza was originally a resident of Kharbatpora, Ratnipora in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. He went to Pakistan in 2017 under the excuse of pursuing higher education.
He joined the Pakistan-backed, banned terror outfit Al-Badr, quickly rising to the rank of commander. He was intensively involved in providing logistics, managing cross-border infiltration, and supplying explosives to operatives in the Kashmir Valley. Hamza was recognized by Indian intelligence agencies as a key conspirator and the operational mastermind who procured and provided the high-grade explosives used in the February 14, 2019, Pulwama suicide bombing. The attack involved a local suicide bomber, Adil Ahmad Dar, ramming an explosive-laden vehicle into a Central Reserve Police Force convoy at Lethpora, causing the martyrdom of 40 CRPF personnel.
