With 8 jawans per booth and drones overhead, Falta felt less like an election and more like an action movie

West Bengal: Falta finally witnessed a successful election yesterday with a roaring voter percentage of 87.85%. The constituency initially voted during the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly Elections on April 29. The political arena and the election mood was completely contradicting to election contested on April 9th. TMC was still in power and they had room to yell at BJP and threaten people who did not vote TMC. Despite heavy security deployment, the election was done in a very peaceful way. TMC’s Jahangir Khan is no longer relevant, not because he withdrew, but because BJP has taken over the power.

In the initial April voting, only 4 Central Armed Police Forces personnel were deployed per booth. For the repoll, this was doubled to 8 CAPF personnel inside and outside every single polling booth. Around 35 companies of central forces and 30 Quick Response Teams rigidly patrolled the area.

The complete voting process was monitored using intensive drone surveillance and live webcams at all 285 polling stations. Falta is traditionally considered an ironclad fortress of the TMC under Abhishek Banerjee’s Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha jurisdiction. April 4th, changed everything.  in an outrageous turn of events just two days before the repoll, the TMC candidate Jahangir Khan abruptly withdrew from the contest, citing personal reasons.
