The District and Sessions Court in Cuttack, Odisha, acquitted Mohammad Abdur Raheman Ali Khan (also known as Maulana Mansoor) of all terror-related and sedition charges, citing a total absence of substantial evidence. He was actually arrested in December 2015, not 2012. He spent over a decade in custody fighting these charges.
Sessions Judge Manas Ranjan Barik strongly criticized the prosecution's case, noting that they failed to produce a single piece of convincing evidence linking Rahaman to Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent or Indian Mujahideen.
The Investigating Officer admitted during cross-examination that there was no proof of any student from Rahaman’s madrasa joining terrorist outfits. Furthermore, no documents, arms, or ammunition linking him to banned groups were ever recovered.
Despite the prosecution accused him of raising funds, they failed to examine a single depositor from his personal or trust bank accounts, nor could they prove any illicit foreign funding. Securing the Frontlines: Amit Shah spearheads a tech-driven, zero-tolerance revamp of India's border defense

Out of 46 witnesses examined, 17 turned hostile, stating Rahaman only imparted regular Islamic teachings.
