Bengaluru - In June 2025, following a tragic stampede near Chinnaswamy Stadium during celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) victory, which resulted in fatalities, the then Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda was suspended. The Karnataka government faced the challenge of appointing a capable officer to fill this critical role. Positions Held by Seemanth Kumar Singh:

Bengaluru Police Commissioner (2025): Currently serving as the city’s top police officer.

Dakshina Kannada District: Served as Superintendent of Police (SP) from 2000 to 2004 and as Mangaluru’s first Police Commissioner from 2010 to 2012.

Ballari SP (2010): During this period, he faced a CBI inquiry related to illegal mining cases, though no recommendations were made against him.


Western Range IGP (2020): Served as Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Mangaluru.

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB): Served as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP).

Humanitarian Efforts:

COVID-19 Relief (2021): During the second wave of COVID-19, Singh facilitated the distribution of approximately 100 oxygen concentrators to taluk and rural hospitals across 17 districts in Karnataka through a crowdfunding campaign.

Migrant Workers’ Aid (2020): During the first COVID-19 wave, he distributed food kits to migrant workers from Jharkhand and Bihar and assisted in their safe return to their home states.

Awards:

In 2023, Singh was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service for his exceptional contributions.
