Attention Rail Passengers: Several Train Services in Karnataka Cancelled on August 24

South Western Railway (SWR) officials have announced the cancellation of several train services in Karnataka on August 24, 2025, due to critical signalling and block instrument replacement work scheduled between Arsikere-Banavara and Arsikere-Habbanaghatta stations. Additionally, some trains will face partial cancellations, while others will have revised schedules.

Hubballi: South Western Railway (SWR) officials have announced the cancellation of several train services in Karnataka on August 24, 2025, due to critical signalling and block instrument replacement work scheduled between Arsikere-Banavara and Arsikere-Habbanaghatta stations. Additionally, some trains will face partial cancellations, while others will have revised schedules. The railway department has advised passengers to check the status of their trains to avoid inconvenience. According to South Western Railway, several key trains, including passenger and express services, will be fully cancelled on August 24. The list of affected trains includes:
Fully Cancelled Trains: Train Nos. 66551, 66552, 66567, 66572, 06581, and 06582, which operate in Bengaluru and surrounding areas, have been completely cancelled.
Partially Cancelled/Short-Terminated Trains: Train Nos. 66512, 66511, 66529, 66530, 16215, 20660, 66541, 66581, 66524, 16520, and 56224 will be partially cancelled or will operate on shortened routes, terminating or originating at stations such as Kengeri, Chikkabanavara, Yesvantpur, and Cantonment.
Rescheduled Trains: Train Nos. 16536, 17308, 12090, and 66554 have had their schedules adjusted, which may result in delays. To minimize inconvenience, South Western Railway has suggested alternative routes for some trains. The railway department has also advised passengers to check train statuses on the IRCTC website and apply for fee-free refunds for cancelled tickets. Railway officials have urged passengers to verify their train details through the IRCTC or South Western Railway’s official website. In case of cancellations, passengers can opt for refunds or reschedule their journeys on other trains. The cancellations sparked public outrage, as they coincided with the inauguration of the Vande Bharat Express in Bengaluru on August 10. However, following public backlash, South Western Railway restored services for six trains on the night of August 9.
