Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi today at the Prime Minister's Office in Delhi. During the meeting, PM Modi extended his friendly greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang through Wang Yi. Modi expressed his keen interest in participating in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit to be held in Tianjin and meeting President Xi Jinping.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi today at the Prime Minister's Office in Delhi. During the meeting, PM Modi extended his friendly greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang through Wang Yi. Modi expressed his keen interest in participating in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit to be held in Tianjin and meeting President Xi Jinping. PM Modi conveyed that India will fully support China's role as the rotating president of the SCO and assured that India will contribute to the complete success of the summit. Turning Point from the Kazan Meeting: Modi highlighted that the meeting between the leaders of the two countries, held in Kazan, Russia, in October last year, marked a significant turning point in the improvement and development of India-China bilateral relations. He noted that since then, bilateral ties have witnessed steady progress, guided by mutual respect, mutual interests, and sensitivity. During the meeting, PM Modi underscored the importance of maintaining peace and stability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) across the India-China border. He reiterated India's commitment to finding a fair, reasonable, and mutually acceptable resolution to the border issue. The resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra was recognized as a positive step in bilateral relations. Modi stated that stable, predictable, and constructive India-China relations would significantly contribute not only to the two nations but also to regional and global peace and prosperity. Wang Yi remarked during the meeting that India-China relations are facing an important opportunity. He acknowledged the notable improvement in bilateral ties following the Kazan meeting between the leaders of the two countries. This meeting has provided a platform to strengthen diplomatic dialogue and discuss border issues. The 24th round of Special Representatives' dialogue with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, which addressed the border issue, was a key discussion held ahead of the SCO summit. Wang Yi stated that both countries are committed to strengthening their relations with mutual respect, cooperation, and unity from a long-term perspective. This meeting is seen as a positive step toward improving India-China relations. The upcoming SCO summit in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1, where PM Modi and President Xi Jinping are expected to meet, holds the promise of further strengthening bilateral ties.
