Bengaluru: Motorists traveling on National Highway-75 (Nelamangala-Hassan) have been hit with a significant shock as toll fees have been increased effective from midnight on September 1, 2025. The revised toll rates will apply at the Doddakarenahalli and Karabailu toll plazas, according to a statement by Nelamangala-Devihalli Expressway Private Limited. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) approved this fee revision on August 14, 2025. The single-journey toll for cars, jeeps, and vans has increased from ₹150 to ₹165, while the return-journey toll has risen from ₹240 to ₹265. Similarly, for heavy vehicles such as trucks and buses, the single-journey toll has gone up from ₹500 to ₹550, and the return-journey toll from ₹800 to ₹880.NHAI officials stated that the toll hike is necessary to cover the rising costs of highway maintenance and road improvements. This is simply a burden on the common people,” said Ramesh, a truck driver who regularly travels the Bengaluru-Hassan route.Additionally, the mandatory FASTag rule remains in place, with vehicles lacking a valid FASTag or having an inactive FASTag being charged double the toll fee. Furthermore, vehicles carrying loads exceeding the permitted weight will face a toll fee ten times the standard rate, as per NHAI guidelines.This toll hike is likely to spark protests among the thousands of motorists using the Bengaluru-Hassan route.
