The Kolar Taluk 30 Lakes Rejuvenation Project, launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, is a vital part of Karnataka's ambitious Yettinahole Project. This initiative aims to address water scarcity in the drought-prone districts of Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Tumakuru, Hassan, and Chikkamagaluru by ensuring a reliable water supply for agriculture, drinking, and livestock needs.
As part of the first phase, several lakes in Kolar Taluk have already received water. Upon completion, the project will supply water across all seven districts, significantly alleviating water shortages. This initiative marks a crucial step toward resolving water-related challenges in Karnataka’s drought-affected regions. The project is set to enhance irrigation facilities for farmers in Kolar Taluk, leading to improved crop production.
Additionally, filling these lakes is expected to boost groundwater levels, contributing to environmental sustainability.
Under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s leadership, the Congress-led government continues to prioritize farmer welfare and public-oriented schemes. Alongside this project, the government has successfully implemented its five guarantee.
