Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar issued a strong appeal today, urging companies, business owners, hotels, contractors, builders, shopkeepers, and other employers across the state to grant necessary time off to their Bihari employees.

This comes ahead of the Bihar Legislative Assembly Elections 2025, scheduled in two phases on November 6 and 11. With a significant number of Bihari residents working in Bengaluru and various parts of Karnataka, Shivakumar emphasized the importance of enabling them to exercise their democratic right to vote without facing economic or professional hurdles. "I appeal to all organizations to provide at least three days of paid leave to Bihar voters, allowing them to actively participate in the election process," the Deputy CM stated.

The initiative is designed to ensure that Bihari migrants can return home seamlessly and cast their ballots, fostering greater voter turnout and supporting the smooth conduct of polls. Also Read: Objection to Internal Reservation Decision: Karnataka High Court Issues Notice to State Government

Shivakumar highlighted the contributions of the Bihari community to Karnataka's development, particularly in sectors like real estate, and called on bodies such as the Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India (CREDAI) to lead by example.

This gesture aligns with the Congress party's broader support for the Mahagathbandhan alliance in Bihar, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), amid a high-stakes contest focused on women's empowerment and economic promises. Also Read: Shakti Scheme Benefits Zero in Kalyana Karnataka: R.
