Bengaluru: The menace of dowry has claimed yet another victim. A young married woman has died under suspicious circumstances just two years after her wedding in Bengaluru. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Banashankari Police Station. The deceased, identified as Keerthi, allegedly committed suicide due to relentless harassment for dowry. The tragedy has left her parents in deep shock and grief.

Background of the Case

Keerthi and Guruprasad were married two years ago in a grand ceremony. Seeking a secure future for their daughter, Keerthi’s parents had provided a substantial amount of dowry at the time of the wedding. While the marriage appeared stable initially, cracks began to show over the last two months.

A Suspicious Death

Keerthi was found hanging yesterday morning. It is alleged that her husband, Guruprasad, did not inform her parents directly; instead, they received the news through acquaintances. Adding to the suspicion, Guruprasad later claimed to the parents that Keerthi had "collapsed due to dizziness and was rushed to the hospital." The family alleges that this was a deliberate attempt to cover up the truth behind her death.

Keerthi Had Shared Her Pain with Her Mother

Keerthi had reportedly been confiding in her mother for the past two months regarding the physical and mental harassment she was facing from Guruprasad over dowry demands. Her family members have alleged that the extreme nature of this harassment pushed her to take this drastic step.
