Tumakuru: A shocking incident that has shamed civilized society has taken place in Gubbi taluk of the district. The Gubbi police have successfully arrested a man within 24 hours for sexually assaulting a minor girl who was returning home after school.

What Happened?

The incident occurred last Saturday afternoon when a 13-year-old girl was walking home alone after school. At this time, the accused, Renuka (29), a cattle trader, intercepted the girl. A resident of Adlapura village near Mallasandra in Tumakuru taluk, Renuka approached the girl on the pretext of asking for directions to another village.

Deceiving her by saying, "I don’t know that village properly, please show me the way," he led her away. Noticing that there was no one around near a lake embankment (Kere Eri) in a village in Gubbi taluk, the predator inhumanely committed sexual assault on the girl.

Swift Police Action

Following the incident, the Gubbi police acted immediately based on the information and complaint provided by the victim. They tracked down the accused, Renuka, and arrested him within a single day. A case has been registered against the accused under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.

Status of the Victim

The victim has been admitted to a private hospital in Tumakuru and is currently undergoing treatment. The family members of the girl are in deep outrage and have demanded the harshest possible punishment for the accused.
