Bengaluru: A minor domestic dispute has led to a major tragedy in the city's Abbigere area. Sushma (35), a software engineer, died by suicide after becoming distressed over a disagreement with her mother-in-law regarding kitchen space and cooking.

Background:

The deceased, Sushma, was working as a techie at the renowned company Dell. She had married Puneeth Kumar five years ago, and the couple has a four-year-old son. It is reported that petty quarrels had been frequent in the household for some time.

Recently, a heated argument broke out between Sushma and her mother-in-law, Kalpana, over cooking separately on the same stove. It is alleged that Kalpana refused to give Sushma space in the kitchen while she was cooking, which deeply upset the techie.

Techie Ends Life; Dowry Harassment Alleged

Overwhelmed by the domestic friction, Sushma ended her life by hanging herself while alone at home. Meanwhile, Sushma’s parents have leveled serious allegations, claiming that dowry harassment was the true cause of her death. Following a complaint filed by her family, the police have launched an investigation.

Husband Arrested; Search on for Mother-in-Law

A case has been registered at the Soladevanahalli Police Station in connection with the incident. Based on the complaint filed by Sushma's family, the police have already arrested her husband, Puneeth Kumar. A search is currently underway for the mother-in-law, Kalpana, who is reportedly absconding. It is deeply tragic that a highly educated woman working for a major global corporation lost her life over such a seemingly trivial issue as kitchen space.
