Today biennial elections are underway for 37 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 states. Maharashtra 7, Tamil Nadu 6, West Bengal 5, Bihar 5, Odisha 4, Assam 3, Chhattisgarh 2, Haryana 2, Telangana 2, and Himachal Pradesh 1.
Of these, 26 candidates have already been elected unopposed in seven states, including prominent figures like Sharad Pawar (NCP-SP), Ramdas Athawale (RPI-A), Tambidurai, Babul Supriyo, Vinod Tawde, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, and others BJP secured 7, Congress 5, TMC 4, DMK 3, etc.
Voting is taking place only for the remaining 11 seats, concentrated in Bihar 5, Odisha 4, and Haryana 2. Polling runs from 9 AM to 4 PM IST, with vote counting starting at 5 PM and results expected by tonight.
