SSLC Hindi Language: Petition Filed in Karnataka High Court Challenging Decision to Replace Marks with Grades..!

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Karnataka High Court challenging the state government’s proposal to award grades instead of marks for Hindi and other third languages in the SSLC examination.

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Karnataka High Court challenging the state government’s proposal to award grades instead of marks for Hindi and other third languages in the SSLC examination.

The petition was filed by H.N. Chandana and S. Venkatesh from Bengaluru. The respondents include the Secretary and Commissioner of the Department of School Education, and Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa.

Recently, Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa announced that Hindi and third languages will no longer be compulsory. He stated that students will be given grades instead of marks in these subjects, and the two-language formula will be implemented from the current academic year.Barrfy Collection's Plastic Stone's Bangles Set (Pack of 4 Bangles)-Red

The petitioners strongly oppose this decision. They allege that the announcement was made unilaterally without public consultation, without Cabinet approval, and without seeking advice from language experts.

The minister’s statement, made on March 31 while the SSLC exams were underway, has created confusion and anxiety among students. Kumaraswamy-Chandrashekhar Threat Case: Karnataka High Court Suggests Mediation..!

No official government order or notification has been issued so far. The PIL argues that the decision violates Article 14 Right to Equality and Article 21A Right to Education of the Indian Constitution.

The petitioners claim it will destabilize students’ future and create discrimination. They have urged the High Court to stay the implementation of the minister’s statement and quash the decision until an official government order is issued through proper procedure.Crackdown on Manipur militants, 3 arrested, massive ammunition recovered

Education experts believe the case could have far-reaching consequences on students’ future and the education system in Karnataka. The High Court is likely to take up the petition for hearing soon.
