Bengaluru Braces for 37°C and Kalaburagi hits 45°C, as Heatwave Sweeps Across Karnataka!

Heatwave Thundershowers: Karnataka’s vs. Double Weather Curse!

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has published a significant weather update for Karnataka as of Thursday, April 16, 2026. North Interior Karnataka is under a heatwave alert; Bengaluru is seeing its hottest days of the year so far.  Symbol Premium Women's Sheath Dress (Knee Length | Desk-to-Dinner) (Available in Plus Sizes)

Bengaluru is expected to hit 37°C today and tomorrow. This follows Tuesday’s peak of 36.6°C, which was officially the hottest day of 2026. IMD scientist C.S. Patil stated that while 37°C is the immediate scenario, temperatures could even rise to 38°C mark in the coming week due to dry western winds and no significant cloud cover.

While there is a chance of isolated evening thundershowers, meteorologists warn these will likely be patchy and may not provide adequate relief from the overall heat. A Yellow Alert has been declared for North Interior Karnataka, including districts like Kalaburagi, which has already experienced temperatures hit a blistering 45°C.

Authorities in Kalaburagi have urged citizens to stay indoors between 11:30 AM and 5:00 PM and to remain hydrated as temperatures remain 3°C to 4°C above normal.

Coastal regions including Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are under a yellow alert for "hot and humid" conditions, where the high humidity will make the "felt temperature" much higher than the actual mercury reading. 850 Seats & A 33% Quota: The Bill That Could Change India Forever

We will witness the most fatal summer this year, IMD is not hinting any temporary relief. Most likely we have to bear with the heat till mid-May.
