The maritime stalemate in the Strait of Hormuz has escalated into a direct "battle of the blockades." The primary induction was the collapse of the Islamabad Accord negotiations on April 12. President Trump announced the blockade after the US delegation, led by VP JD Vance, reported that Iran refused to yield on its nuclear enrichment ambitions. This proved to be the global hick up.

The blockade is premeditated to starve the Iranian regime of revenue. It is currently costing Iran an estimated $400 million per day in lost exports!
