Peshawar: Pakistani security forces claims, they have killed 23 terrorists during a series of operations conducted on Wednesday and Thursday in the country's agitated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military's media wing said on Friday, operations targeted highly volatile areas, delivering a massive setback to active insurgent infrastructure. The phenomenal breakthrough of the operations was the killing of a tarnished and highly wanted militant commander, identified as Jan Meer, also known by his alias, Toor Saqib.

Meer was a high-ranking commander responsible for orchestrating numerous deadly ambushes, improvised explosive device attacks, and targeted killings against both security forces and civilians, intelligence agencies were tracking his movements for over a month. His elimination is viewed as a crucial blow to the operational leadership, command structure, and logistical coordination of the regional terrorist network.

The military campaigns were mostly concentrated hugely in the country's northwestern frontier and bordering tribal districts, where fragment cells of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan  and other banned militant factions frequently attempt to establish untraceable hideouts. Acting on precise, actionable intelligence input from surveillance networks, security forces cordoned off multiple suspected hideouts simultaneously to prevent any escape routes.

The operations led to fierce, prolonged firefights between the armed forces and the insurgents. Ground forces were heavily supported by tactical units to flush out militants hidden in complex terrain and cave systems.
