Bidar: As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is restructuring its organizational framework across the nation, the Karnataka BJP has appointed new district presidents in the remaining organizational districts. Somanath Patil has been appointed as the new BJP District President for Bidar.

In an interview with Insight Rush Media, Patil spoke about his political journey and shared his goals and plans as the newly appointed district president.

Patil joined the BJP in 2000 as a grassroots-level worker, and through his dedication and public service, rose through the ranks. Recognized for his efforts, he later served as Taluk Secretary for Humnabad, and then as a State Executive Member. His work at both the local and booth levels earned him recognition within the party.

Acknowledging his contributions, State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra appointed him as the District President for Bidar, which Patil described as a great honor and responsibility. He expressed eagerness to strengthen the party’s organization at the booth level and continue his groundwork with greater enthusiasm.

Speaking about the current Congress-led government in Karnataka, Patil criticized its functioning, saying:

“We are in the opposition, and because this Congress government is doing great injustice to the people of the state, we are forced to protest daily. There is corruption everywhere — not even police stations are spared. A recent example is a bank robbery in the city where one person died, and another was injured by a bullet. The government has neither provided compensation nor arrested the culprits. This shows the complete failure of law and order under this administration.”

He further alleged:

“Hindu activists are being arrested under cow slaughter cases across our district. Generic medical stores — opened under Narendra Modi’s affordable medicine scheme — are being forcefully shut down in some areas. It seems the Congress government is deliberately sabotaging central schemes meant to benefit the people.”

Calling the current Karnataka government the worst in the state’s history, Patil added:

“MLAs in power aren’t even getting development grants. All the money is being funneled into the so-called ‘guarantee schemes.’ Not a single development work is being done, and corruption has reached a level where bribes are required to get basic work done.

Speaking about the Central Government, he emphasized the success of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s schemes over the past 11 years, particularly Ayushman Bharat, which provides health coverage to the poor and underserved. Patil said efforts are underway to ensure the scheme reaches as many people as possible in the district.
